Built by a Practicing Nurse Practitioner
I am a certified Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of clinical experience.
Like most NPs, I learned early that this profession is defined by far more than passing a certification exam.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Martin Methodist College and my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Since then, I have practiced across multiple clinical settings, experiencing both sides of this profession firsthand — board preparation and independent clinical decision-making.
What Became Clear Over Time
Passing boards and practicing well require different kinds of preparation.
Board exams test recognition and recall.
Clinical practice demands judgment.
In real practice:
guidelines don’t always fit the patient
